Memorial Ship "MIKASA"

Memorial Ship "MIKASA" opened renewedly on February 1, year (2005) of the 100th Battle of Tsushima anniversary. MIKASA was opened to the public free of charge for those who invited it on Friday, May 27 when the commemorative ceremony was held and was open to the public free of charge in general on the 28th and the 29th.

Flagship MIKASA of Battle of Tsushima was completed in the Biccars shipyard in Britain on March 1, 1902. Mikasa departed from Plymouth on March 13 and arrived at Yokosuka on May 18. Japan won a great victory against Russian fleets in the Tsushima coast naval battle on the 27th and May 28, 1905. The Mikasa preservation commemorative ceremony was done on November 12, 1926. It came to be named, Memorial Ship "MIKASA".

Outline of battleship MIKASA. Displacement: 15,140t. Total length: 132m. Width: 23m. Speed 18kt. Main gun 30cmx4. Sub-15cm x14. Supplementary 8cmx20 and others.
